About VocalCheck
Free vocal range test — no login required
What is VocalCheck?
VocalCheck is a free, browser-based tool that finds your singing range in seconds. Sing or hum into your microphone and instantly discover your lowest note, highest note, and voice type — whether you're a bass, baritone, tenor, alto, mezzo-soprano, or soprano.
How It Works
- Allow microphone access when prompted
- Sing your lowest comfortable note and hold it for a few seconds
- Sing your highest comfortable note and hold it for a few seconds
- See your range on a piano keyboard, your voice type, and famous singers who share your range
All audio analysis happens entirely in your browser, on your own device. Your voice is never uploaded to any server.
Why We Built This
Most vocal range tools require app downloads, accounts, or paid subscriptions just to answer a simple question: "What is my voice type?" VocalCheck answers that question instantly, privately, and for free — in any browser, on any device.
Who makes VocalCheck
Iris Lambert is the independent developer behind VocalCheck. Iris builds privacy-first, browser-based tools because so many "free" singing tools quietly upload your microphone audio to their servers, or hide the actual answer behind an account or a paid plan. VocalCheck was created to give singers — beginners and trained alike — a fast, honest answer to one simple question ("what's my range?") without asking them to trust a stranger's server with their voice.
How our guides are written
The articles on this site are written and tested by a human. For every guide, Iris runs the actual steps in VocalCheck and verifies the result before publishing. We use AI tools to help draft and structure the text, but every guide is reviewed, fact-checked against published vocal-pedagogy sources, and tested in VocalCheck by Iris Lambert before it goes live, and updated when the tool or the underlying conventions change.
Privacy First
We built VocalCheck with privacy as a core feature. No accounts, no cloud storage, no audio uploads. Your results are encoded in the URL so you can save or share them without any data leaving your device.
